Whenever we ask to anyone who works with children, to recall memories of their school days, in particular PE lessons, the overwhelming majority of responses take the line of ‘Sigh, oh yes, running around the school field in the cold!’
To a lot of others though, including myself, PE was the highlight of the school week. Probably because I had an affinity to sport and wasn’t the last to be picked for any team sports! PE has so much to offer children, and not just the physical, fitness or skill development aspect of the class. And this is why it is fantastic news to hear that PE will be one of the four core subjects in the national curriculum from the next academic year
ActivKids help’s schools deliver exciting and effective PE lessons
ActivKids have developed a range of fantastic multiskills programmes for all primary aged year groups, linked into the games modules of the national curriculum. There are also a range of challenge programmes for lunch time, before school and after school activity sessions. These programmes are supported by inspirational ActivKids workshops that lead teaching and support staff to re-enjoy PE again!
Don’t just take our word for it!
ActivKids recently delivered its Infant fitness and active games workshop over three twilight sessions to teachers, TA’s and playground supervisors at Barnett Wood infant School in Surrey. The 2-hour sessions were very well received with a lot of fun and enjoyment experienced by all those who participated. Mrs. Norma Penny, head teacher at Barnett Wood, found the workshop content very beneficial to the children of her school,
“We all enjoyed the activities and were appropriate for the age group the staff each. Lots of fun and active games can be seen around the school
We were impressed with James from the beginning. He was knowledgeable, engaging and fun. He also made sure that safety was top priority, checking the space, reminding staff to only do what they can and giving breaks to hydrate. There was also a warm up and cool down activity”.
Other comments from workshop attendees included:
“Lots of ideas to improve my repertoire of games. PE and activity can be fun – some of us struggle with this”
“The training book was excellent and it is great that few resources are needed”
“Lots of ideas and inspiration”
ActivKids can support YOU and your staff deliver great PE lessons and lunch time activities
