6 reasons why you should make ActivKids a key partner this year

There are many great reasons why ActivKids could be an important part of your plans in 2012 when it comes to inspiring children and families to be more active. 1. Children’s performance in the classroom could be affected by how physically active they are

A Dutch review of previous studies into links between children’s physical activity levels and how well they perform in the classroom has found strong evidence of a link between exercise and academic performance (source: www.bbc.co.uk). ActivKids programmes focus on physical activity and fitness for children aged 4 to 11 years, both in and out of school time.

2. Obesity linked to poor mother-toddler bond

The results of a study at Ohio State University suggest that toddlers, when coping with stress, may begin to use food as a source of comfort in place of turning to their mothers (source: www.webmd.com). 3. OFSTED outcomes for children’s centres

The ActivTots programme delivered by ActivKids has been mapped against the outcomes for families set by OFSTED, which was released in September 2011. The programme can help children’s centres achieve 50% of ‘being healthy’ objectives, as well as other objectives in ‘staying safe’, ‘enjoying and achieving’ and ‘making a positive contribution’. 4. Obesity levels rising in children aged 10 and 11 years

These results were highlighted by the National Child Measurement Programme.
